:?:
Hello Andy. I tried to import a Blender file into Ac3d which was created mainly with those features I have asked you about (whether they have counterparts in Ac3d).
The Blender model was mostly created with lattice-modelling and bezier-curves. I had hoped I could use Blender for the lattice modelling that ac3d does not seem to have. (You have not yet addressed my questions regarding lattice-modelling functions in Ac3d) and import the incomplete models to Ac3d, which I prefer to use.
I tried exporting these from Blender to Ac3d. First I was asked to save them as vrml, dxl, and videoscape files :( :?:
Something did cross the divide and was successfully imported to the ac3d world. But it was only a fin (on an otherwise large airship) which was created with subdivided vertice-modelling like ac3d. I assume ac3d does not support these features for import. Is this true. Is there perhaps another way to do this? Thank you again for your previous assistance.

Sincerely,
James Ortega

I'm not experienced with Blender but there's probably a way of converting the model into polygons, since this is what Blender's AC3D exporter probably requires.

Thanks for the tip on importing Blender files.

What are making meshes good for? I tried experimenting with them to see if they served as lattice-frames for polygon models but they didn't. I am still trying to figure out what I asked you about on two previous letters, namely, what the ac3d function was that I accidentally discovered long ago and seemed to make an organic cuboid existing within its own lattice frame. It is very important that I know whether your program supports lattice modelling. I have asked three times for clarification and I am still groping around in the dark. I would love to make everything in AC3D, but it seems I now have to make my more organic modelling in Blender (which is a pain in the ass), post questions on the blender forum to learn if and how Bezier curves and lattice models are exported as polygons (another pain in the ass, with delays), as I have the Blender tutorial guide and it does not cover the topic, and import them into AC3D worlds I am building.
Please answer my questions about lattice-modelling (I assume you know what it is, other programs like lightwave and Maya use it). If your program has no corresponding feature, let me know. If it doesn't, it would make AC3D a perfect modelling program. I appreciate your help.

Sincerely,
James O.

You must have been using subdivision surfaces. In AC3D, you can set the subdivision level on any object - use Tools->object property-editor.

Try this model spaceship (http://www.ac3d.org/ac3d/forumpics/SPACESHIP.AC)

Press 'd' to switch viewing of subdivisions. Try dragging the vertices around to adjust the overall shape. Notice how the curves in the wings are defined by the simple frame - try dragging these vertices.

AC3D doesn't use seperate deformers like in Blender. Perhaps something for the future.
