Joerg Schmalzl has released some AC3D plugins (http://earth.uni-muenster.de/~joergs/SFS/) that allow the design and editing of aircraft for use with the Gliding flight simulator - Soaring Flight Simulator (SFS) (http://www.sfspc.de/index_e.htm).
Joerg also includes details on how to load planes from Microsoft Flight Simulator into AC3D.
