View Full Version : Configurable shortcuts, please!

I've known about AC3D for a while, but I only just recently started really using it. Being an avid MilkShape user, I was pleased to find that AC3D's interface is similar to MilkShape's in several respects, but of course, unlike MilkShape, it supports an unlimited polycount, quads, and realtime subdivision previews, all of which I love.

I'm already very satisfied with AC3D's layout, interface, and tools. However, I do have one suggestion that I think would be pretty easy to implement -- configurable shortcuts. A lot of the operations in AC3D do have shortcuts, but two of the ones I use the most -- Insert Vertex and Slice Surface -- do not. I would at least like to see these two operations get keyboard shortcuts, because having to go up and use the menu every time I want to insert a vertex and slice a surface is just too slow and awkward, and I use these operations a lot. If I've missed anything, and there is a way to configure shortcuts yourself, then please let me know. Thanks.

There's a thread on how to customize your AC3D shrtcut lying around - but I can't remember the link. :( It's a question of fiddling with tcl/ac3d.tcl IIRC.

These two functions are mentioned here a lot and really should have shortcuts for the next version.

so - post some suggestions for key presses here ... (insert vertex and slice-surface)

.. and the winning ones will be added to the next release :D

Ctrl-Shift-I (Insert vertex)
Ctrl-Shift-L (Slice Surface)

also 'Remove Surface Only' is another big one that doesnt have a hotkey.
Ctrl-Shift-R (Remove Surface Only)
...Crtl-R (View>Reset All)....thats the way i have my keys set up.

o and heres that link to the TCL editing thing:
