Is there a way to select an object and learn what material # you've assigned to it?

I'm working with some objects that have proven hard to properly assign materials to, and some of the materials in the list now have the same colors. It's been very hit or miss trying to match up all the materials.

Also, is there a way to create or select a material, then change its color to one you desire, especially if that color doesn't exist in the menu of materials?

Hi Stiglr

Don't click the material with your left-mouse button.
Try the right one, and alle your questions will be answered ;)

No, you don't understand.

If I click on an OBJECT first, I get no clue as to what material it's using other than the color. If I've created other materials based on other materials, I'll have multiple materials that "appear" the same in AC3D. That's what I need: a way to click on an object and know that it's using, say, Material 15.

Select a surface and the material number will be shown at the bottom of the AC3D window. control-clicking in the 3d window also does this.

Ah. Now I see... only one surface, not on an object!!

Thank you!
