I just got this game for my son (OK, and me).

The frame rate is pretty bad on this PC (2.4gHz, Geforce4 MX 440) even at 800x600 and no special graphics effects on - What would be better - a faster processor or better graphics card?

Also - how can I get to fly the vehicles, we've only been able to act as people/droids etc - I'd like to fly an XWing!

I'd definatly recommend a better grafic-card.
Yours is pretty old (and slow)

I like NVidia stuff but there are so many cards to choose from - any recommendations?

any higher end Geforce FX card will work, the Geforce 4 MX is a very low end card. that is the temp card i put in this system till i get a new mobo (this one had the agp and 2 pci slots die)

I have a normal GF3 and in SDOE i get 130 FPS but with the GF4mx i only get 6!!!!

its the vid card so change it and you should be fine.

Thanks Tony.

Is it worth paying more for the 256MB versions?

The GF4 'MX' model is actually GeForce2 technology... A better card is definitely worth it. As for memory, 256MB may not be required at the moment, but it will add a bit to the useful life of the card.

My system was p4 2.4ghz with gforce 4 mx, and now is
p4 2.4 with gforcefx 5500 128. I can play doom3 at 800x600 without loosing frame rate.

We have a Geforce FX 5500 with 256meg DDr for 129 bucks at a local shop here. That would be your best bet cause right now your CPU is taking up slack from the GPU.

Where do I go to fly an X-wing?

In some battles you can take and fly an x-wing, if not someone else got it.
Star wars battlefrond is like the battlefield 1942

sorry forgot about this tread, the cloud city map has all the redal ships on the platform. (at least that is where they are on x-box) I personally like the Y wing.

I am john Turner age 13.You should not of bought the game,SWB, for the computer it is horrid instead I would suggest the PS2 and if you do not have it get it they are probably $200 right now.

Don't get too attached to those super slick flight models (so slick I can't get a handle on them) for the PC as SWB 2 is due up in November and promises you can actually fly the space ships with some success. That mixed with boarding actions and you are all set.

I would look into a 6600GT card or an ATI x600 for decent speed and decent price.
