I have a serious question about Star Wars (the movie)
I 've seen star wars 1 (1997 i thing) and the second episode, the attack of the clones (2001 or 2002).
The x-wing, the famous spaceship. I haven't seen it yet!
Can anyone tell me what on earth is going on?

Well, the X-wing was a fighter ship primarily used by the rebels, right?
But the empire they were to rebel against didn't exist as of yet in those movies.
Hence in those movies the rebels weren't rebels yet and there was probably no use for such kind of fighter ship.

The early version of the X wing has been seen in the 3rd movie which came out this summer. It ties right into the 4 movie (A New Hope) and shows how things started for where most of us picked up in the 4th movie.
You must remember there is a good 20 or so years between the 3rd and 4th movie which gave them enough time to prfect the X-wing and other ships.

Star wars was made int eh 70's. Really there is only ment to be the full set of movies .IE. being all chapters. Chapters 1 to 6. Star Wars "A new Hope" was first but started at chapter 4 and so on to return of the jedi in chapter 6, then lucas came back and did chapters 1 thru 3. Its not really ment to been seen as 2 trilogies but more as a book.

Not a remake, the 3 new ones are prequels.

Hmm...
But why the 3 last episodes at first, and the 3 first episodes at the end?

Hmm...

I can imagine 2 reasons for the "strange" order:
1)
I belive Episode IV was the "easisest" in terms of havng a stand-alone movie, as it kicks off with a young boy seeking his fate as a jedi and ends with bang. Note that when Ep. IV was planned, sci-fi was considered kind of lame by lot of people in the movie community, and the success was actually quite a surprise to a lot of people. Starting off with Ep. I? Could perhaps have worked, though I doubt it.
If "A new hope", Episode IV, the first film made hadn't been a huge success there would ony been just one movie made in the saga...
2)
The huge battle scenes with driods and whatnot in Episode I would not been possible to create back in the 70's.
Besides, I think it is kind of cool the way "A new hope" started with "Episode IV", creating a curiosity and demand for the films I-III some 20 years before they were made.

The truth is, Lucas had a backstory, but never wrote episode 1 until 1995. He started with four mainly beacuse of a whim. He planned to go back later and do the other three when he had the money or time.
Get the DVD for Episode 1 and watch the web-casts on the disk, it'll explain it better than I can.
