All,
I've started a new set of tutorials for AC3D, starting out with a couple of basic ones.

This page will will host all of the tutorials I create for AC3D. I'll post here when they've been updated.
Enjoy.

This is great Dennis. The tin can is really nice.
If you are using subdivisions, you can use as little as 6 segments for the revolve. When it's subdivided, you get an almost perfect 'circle'.
A tip for something like the can when the next release of AC3D is out - Create your line profile and then subdivide the line. Add extra vertices to give sharper corners - before you revolve it. (this doesn't work in AC3D 5 because only polys can be subdivided)

Excellent advice Andy - many thanks! I'll update the tut when I get a moment.
EDIT:
Seems I've just had a moment to update it ;)

EDIT2: I also added a top and bottom this time, and changed the method of drawing it a bit.
I'm finding that making tutorials demands a bit more thoroughness out of even something so simple and seemingly minor as a tin can.

Am I missing something here? The smoothing of the can says as follows:
With the can selected, click the "Subdiv +" button along the top (below the menu). Click it twice for best results. You could, alternatively, use the Property window (F9) and set the Subdiv preview to 2.
I don't seem to have a "Subdiv +" button????

Hi James,
No, you're probably not missing anything --- I believe I used a different version of AC3D when creating these tutorials
You should be able to set the subdivision levels using the Object Property Editor dialog (F9 when selecting an object in object mode).
Good luck,.
