How do you use the Extrude Feature?

I am having trouble figuring out the Extrude edge. I select specific vertices to extrude but it says "no whole surfaces selected". Could someone help?

Forgive me if I'm wrong but it seems that you're using the "extrude" button in the left area of the AC3D window, in order to extrude your edge(s).

To extrude edges you must use CTRL + E and not the "extrude" button.
Then in "move/size" mode, move your vertices.

"extrude" button is for surfaces only.
