Usually when you use background pictures to model you do it in all 3 dimensions at once. Height length and depth. (See attached picture) Its difficult to say how without any screenshots of your...

No textures from another program. The picture are a screengrab straight from AC3D, so any shadows are in AC3D :)

Hehe, slicing and boolean can sometimes be a hit or miss have I found out. Sometimes it works like cutting butter with a hot knife, and sometimes you just want to pull all your hair out :)

I have had some/many objects doing this. I think it has something to do with the vertexes. Sometimes they just have a position that the boolean/slicing function wont work with. Of course it can bee...

All lines are modeled. I know its overkill, cos It can be done with textures, but I like to do it this way :) The dirt around the lines are textures though.

So, doing textures and uv mapping suck big time. But it looks kinda OK. What do you think? The background was made using different sections of cloud pictures. Changed colors and did lots of tweaks...
