You can select any geometry, and the UV exporter will export the UV's for the selection as a BMP image.

You can select the geometry for which you want to export the UV's and look at it in the Texture Coordinate Editor (TCE - press F10). Whatever you see inside the black box in the TCE will be what is exported as an image.

"UV's outside of the 0-1 range" refers to anything outside the black bordered box in the TCE.
