Indeed. While AC3D doesn't animate, it is possible to create simple skeleton rigs using the hierarchy view and the object centers as joints. The XPlane stuff is particularly nifty if you haven't seen it yet:

For keyframe (non-physics) animations, I like Poser myself. Blender's too much of a pain for my tastes, and most of the other inexpensive stuff doesn't have inverse kinematics.
