He he; Yes it was a tough one, but;... I tried it the way you mentioned and the attached pic is the result. It did result in cleaner edges without having to do all the vertex adjustments. lol. Did have to use a whole sphere to do the cutting (as the half sphere wouldn't cut it), and then redraw the sphere, cut it in half and then place it in the rectangle, and adjust it to the center hole. The intersect and the union options gave me an error. (said it sucessfully did the task but then didn't show any results.)
As for my site, yes yesterday I was fixin it. but if you do not have a vrml viewer loaded on your machine there is a link in the left corner to install one. You may have to actually close the browser after install to get it to work.
