Check that AC3D is using your graphics card - look at the text that pops up in the black window. If you can't read it fast enough, change the console setting in advanced preferences so that the window stays open.

You could also check the screen depth.

You don't say which version of AC3D you are using - 6.x may have speed problems on newer machine. AC3D 7 should be better.
