Surface selection selects surface behind
This may have covered before since it's a quite basic problem.
I need to select a group of surfaces, in this case the inside of an arch. The purpose is to define a revised UV mapping in the texture coordinate editor. However, in innumerous cases the selection "pokes through" the structure and selects a surface on the opposite side as well. The only way I've found to arrest this is to keep a second 3D window open showing the model from the opposite side. Then I undo a selection the moment that I see a surface going green on the wrong side and try again.
Ideally, a selection should not invoke a surface behind the surface being targeted. Why does this happen and what can I do to avoid this problem?
