well what you can also do to have just one shape in there is to combine the shape that you dont want with the rest of the cockpit. say like you dont really want the first design pattern just combin it with the cockpit. or with the original shape you started out with which was four blocks. there should be little triangle corners on each side alls you have to do is select the unwanted shape combine it with the original square thus leaving you with a circle.
