Thanks to the development of open standards for real-time 3D communication like VRML and X3D by Web 3D Consortium and mixed, targetted use of different authoring software/tools, it is very possible to increase the productivity and efficiency of the preliminary design process for land development, urban, architectural and landscape design. The "VRML CENTER" and the "X3D TOWER" shall be used as a virtual experimental platform for the research and development. Into the future simulations are to be included more dynamic sceneries and animated interactive objects.
