I'm not sure if there is any way to scale background images in AC3D. What I would do is use an application like Adobe PhotoShop or Dell Image Picture Studio. Just convert the size of the car (from meters to centimeters) and enter it into the resize windows. Make sure that the option to constrain proportions is selected. Then change the centimeters over to pixels and enter the width (or height) of how big you want it. I did it with the figures you gave and I am pretty sure that 9.87m x 2.27m scaled down is 407pixils x 112pixils. You may want to check that, but I think it's right.

If you ever have to do this again, but you don't already have a program that can scale pictures, goto this web site:
