For something this intricate and detailed, it would probably behoove you to make sure the 3D structure matches that of the girders, so that the corners are not a texture issue.
Where there are now troublesome corners, I suggest putting some time into cutting and recombining new surface edges to fix the "overlap issues." Use the knife tool to create the new structure you need.
