Hi uffdaken - sorry, I haven't posted in a while. Lost the old mojo and didn't do any modelling for months. Just posted an update to my Star Wars Republic Gunship and spotted your query. The image is actually built up from a number of models, all spaced out but lined up to look as though they are one piece. This was one of my first models and it was huge. However, I did use a lot of greebles and clever texturing to give the illusion of scale. It was all 3d modelling.
