sketchup is a quick simple 3d modeler that specializes in straight objects, as far as I know of there is this sketchup plugin for sketchup pro 5 which lets you import models from google earth, than I suggest exporting that model into 3ds format from sketchup and import into ac3d.

I have not tried this method because I gave up on sketchup a few months ago since ac3d is more capable of creating better works and lower polycount models
