The positioning of the icons is quite standard (eg: Lightwave, Daz Studio, BodyPaint ). Its just that the way they function is not in AC3D is not.
Usually, on left mouse down on the icon, the cursor arrow disappears (or changes appropriately) and as long as you keep the button down you zoom/rotate/translate and cursor does not go off the screen ... it stays on the icon as you move the mouse.
