Check out this link, a beginner's guide for POV-Ray and AC3D:

Although POV-Ray's latest stable release is 3.6, the "guide" covers POV-Ray 3.5; if you're an absolute beginner, I'd definitely recommend getting 3.5 for now, and upgrading later when you get more comfortable with POV-Ray. You can get 3.5 from here:

ftp://ftp.povray.org/pub/povray/Old-...l-3.5/Windows/

The file you want from there is povwin35.exe.

For modeling, the tutorials link from AC3D is a good place to start:
