Short answer:

Looks like you're using spherical mapping for an object that should use planar mapping. This is an object that, if you used planar mapping, would make much more visual sense to you, and within the TCE, it's pretty easy to divide the various planes to create a better map, with highly, and I mean HIGHLY, accurate mapping.

The other thing I'd note is, you have no texture there to assign, so you're not really "using" the TCE to begin with. If you're mapping to nothing (yet), what exactly are you accomplishing? There are ways to create a good map guide and this I can also show you. Let's set up a time to meet online....
