It's not a "jigsaw puzzle" if you approach it correctly. Large areas of your object(s) can be textured easily in a few seconds each, provided your texture graphic is set up to accommodate it.

I'd have to see what you're working with, and also what you're seeing on the TCE, but my guess is, you simply don't know what you're looking at, and it seems like mission impossible right now. (not to castigate you for it, because I understand your confusion; I been there!)

The good news is, there's likely a solution for you. You just have to understand the texturing process, which, with AC3D, is absolutely the easiest way to do it. None of the other 3D programs I've used have come anywhere close to the power and (relative) simplicity of the TCE.
