In the upper left corner of the 3D window.
There are 3 buttons, not really buttons, but they are buttons.
Camera View 3D

Pick the 3D one, and then you should have another menu, pick the set background col... and you can make the background any color you want.

The default color is
Red: 85
Green: 85
Blue: 85

Hue: 160
Sat: 0
Lum: 80
