I often have this on random surfaces, I don't think it's a problem with the surfaces since it usually goes away when i reselect, triangulate, or move the view.
I got 2 accounts on this pc, and it doesn't do this on one account and it does on the other, with the same model.
The surfaces select is screwed on my system anyways, the selecting is nowhere near accurate to where my selecting box is, in both orth and 3d view.
