Default Re: All quad sphere

A cube can be subdivided using Object>Subdivide + three or four times, then commit the subdivision, and size the resulting mesh to the required diameter of the sphere. This gives a reasonable representation of a quad sphere, but, using a circle of the same diameter as the required sphere as a backdrop, it can be seen that the result is not too spherical in way of the areas corresponding to the original cube edges, but the discrepancy may not be so significant to be noticable. Increasing the subdivision level does not appear to help much.

For comparison, I made a quad sphere in Blender by subdividing a cube four times, then using Blender's "to sphere" option (shift-alt-S) with a factor of 1, then imported to AC3D as a OBJ file. This also showed a similar non-sphericalness, compared with the circle backdrop.
