Try an Obj or 3DS.
LWO format changes drastically from version to version.
When we wrote a loader for the format for my game engine,
we went through several variations, got fed up and and just settled on version six or seven.
Another trick may be to load the textures into Lightwave first?
Been six years since I used it so can't say for sure.
