What OS are you running?
Under the Apple menu Choose "About This Mac" and it will tell you.

Where did you install AC3D?

I once had a crash because where I had it installed was a folder with a funky character.

Try moving it to the Desktop, but generally it should be in Applications.

Thats the only bug I can remember.

Try this open: /Applications/Utilities/Console.app
Then try to run AC3D and let us know what error message gets spit into console.
