Metaball plugin WIP
Well, I am making steady progress on my second plugin. I have the isosurface algorithm working and by sleight of hand can specifiy metaballs (i.e. I have to write C++ to say where they are).
Here is my "first light" for a sensible metaball function (as used in POV-Ray). The link Facts and figures: Object "metaball", v 104042, s 208080 Steve. |

You will be able to specify a number of "blobs" each of which generate a field, like a electrostatic force. The combined field of all the blobs is then used to define an isosurface i.e. a surface of constant field value, which gives you shapes like the blobby thing in the link. Many ray tracers and modellers have metaballs/blobs as a primitive. Why am I doing it? I give the mountaineer's excuse. Because it's there. Steve. |

I'll announce in the plugins forum when something usable is available. In the meantime you will have to make do with the pretty picture. (attaching an image worked this time!) Steve. |
