Giant robots
Thought I'd show these off - my first use of finishes. I was trying for a semi-metallic look but some of the objects look more plastic than others. I haven't mastered textures yet, but I'm getting the hang of irregular smooth surfaces.
A critique would be appreciated. |

nice wok man.. the sholders look too bigh compared
to the whole body though.. and yes the model looks very plastic.. i think it would be better if you use some metal textures.. you can find good number at www.3dcafe.com hmm good over all |

Amazing
I love it,did you do this entirely with AC3D?If so how did you get the plastic effect?

The finish was added using POVRay commands, but the models themselves were entirely done in AC3D.

Mostly extruded polygons. The upper part of the body I designed one complete side of and then replicated. The lower part was a polygon that was mirrored and then extruded downwards.
The most difficult part was the shoulder armour - that was done using a sphere. I deleted some of the surfaces to create a basic shape, deformed it appropriately and then extruded along the edges to create the flaring. I then extruded the whole shape to give it some thickness, and subdivided a couple of times to smooth it out. |

I didn't subdivide the body shapes - only those that I wanted to specifically smooth, such as the knee armour. You can also try dividing (not subdividing) the surfaces and then using the "smooth shape" option under the Vertices menu.
