Default Duplicate object issue

I have created an object that is a light bloom for a runway lighting system. I am using a single light source PNG file on a flat plane surface. I can create the object, and then set the texture to it and the bloom effect with a gradient lightmap works great. But, if I duplicate the object, or copy the object, the transparency is lost on the copy. But if I create each light seperately, and assign the lightmap to it, it works fine. I then tried to group a number of them together, and then duplicate the group. The resulting problem is the same. I've attached the image showing the source group (which looks fine), and the copied group which has lost some of the transparency. Not all, but enough that it looks bad.

Any ideas for solving this problem?

This could be to do with the order the objects are rendered. Essentially, you need to render transparent objects last so you'll need to move them to the end of the hierarchy.

If you don't think it's this - please send me a sample mode file with the textures.
