News - AC3D 6.1 coming soon
AC3D in the news There have been a number of excellent press reviews of AC3D 6 over the last couple of months (see our front page www.ac3d.org for some quotes). Computer Shopper labelled it as one of their Best Buys, Cadalyst magazine awarded a Highly Commended badge and the Mac magazine iCreate featured a four page illustrated tutorial. Customer Spotlight Read the story of how a gaming company is developing a multi-user game incorporating 3D models built with AC3D – DAR Gaming. Want to see your own organisation showcased? - contact us for more information and get your hard work seen by thousands. SkillBuilder pack An increasing number of schools are finding AC3D much easier to work with compared to traditional, unwieldy CAD packages. We are getting fantastic feedback from teachers who are finding that students are picking-up the basics so easily. AC3D’s school SkillBuilder pack has been updated for version 6 and is free to licensed schools. The pack contains fully-differentiated student worksheets, pupil assessment trackers, teacher guide and all sample 3D model files to accompany the topics covered. If you haven’t yet got your pack, or would like a full evaluation copy, please contact us. AC3D 6.1 coming soon The finishing touches are being made to AC3D 6.1. New features include a new integrated Boolean function, surface flatten function, enhancements to the hierarchy and a Terragen (.ter) terrain importer. Still not upgraded? Upgrade now to AC3D 6 and get 6.1 for free. Not yet using AC3D 6? – take a look at what you are missing! |

Re: News - AC3D 6.1 coming soon
The Terragen importer sounds great, I've seen a number of models that have been created with it that look great, including height fields converted from Mars MOLA (Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter) data from NASA. Really opens up some possibilities for creating realistic mountains and plains in scenes, with spacecraft models where you may not want to involve importing the models into Bryce.
One of the reasons I bought AC3D for its file import (like LWO files), a product strength that I look forward to seeing it expanded! Can't wait... Steve
