Move a vertex along a path
Hi,
Something that it is possible to do in seconds in Sketchup. I really believe that with some functionalities of Sketchup, AC3D could be a good alternative. This functionality is the ability to detect along which path you want to move a vertex, surface or object. In this example, i just want to move a vertex along the yellow path (which is aligned of the black segment on its left) I spend a lot of time without being able to do it. Thanks for any help Chris |

Re: Move a vertex along a path
good one.
I'm not sure if this script will still work with the latest AC3D: https://www.inivis.com/supercoldmilk...ovetoward.html Alternatively, if that edge is axis aligned, select both vertices on the edge and then resize the selection to move the vertex you want to move. |

How i can align axis with the object? Alternatively, I wonder when why i move the 'vertice selection box' by the 'crosshair' symbol in the 3D view is does not move along the surface axis. This would have made the trick perfectly i think. I think there is an easy big improvement by allowing the 'select box' to move in the same direction of the edge of the connected surface Best Chris |

Re: Move a vertex along a path
The script worked but was really ugly.
I've updated it to work on AC3D 8 - see attached. Put it in the scripts folder and after starting AC3D, you should see a new item at the bottom of the main Tools menu. |

Or, an even easier and great solution will be to have to 'vertice/surface' object box correctly aligned. In my example, why the 'horizontal cones' are not aligned with the connected segments (it seems that it choose 45 deg instead ?) Or in the second example to cones are not orthogonal to the selected surface ? If cone aligned with segment, you will have just to pull the 'cone' and it will move along the segment. At the end of the move, a snap to surface will finish the job. Having 'cones' aligned with connected segment (for vertice selection) and orthogonal to surface (for surface selection) will be a huge benefit IHMO Best, Chris |

Re: Move a vertex along a path
Yes, at the moment the cones are always aligned with the global/world axis.
