Re: AC3D History?
AC3D 1.0 was a long time ago. AC3D will have been going 10 years next year! It was initially for Linux and SGI only but there was huge demand for a windows port so that followed a bit later.
There may be some old images, I'll see if I can find any... Andy |

Re: AC3D History?
This shows AC3D 1.58:
http://www.tin.it/sbdi/50/graf50it.htm The view windows used to be seperate but you can see that the overall interface is still very similar. AC3D was initially developed on an Amiga (with an X style widget library), then it moved to an SGI and a 486 PC running Slackware Linux. The earlier versions used X-window Motif (rather than TCL/TK) for the interface, I'm not sure if there any images of that - this was really just at the time the WWW was starting. OpenGL was quite new then too. The rendering was written in pure X and SGI GL. The version history http://www.ac3d.org/ac3d/versionhistory.html is interesting reading for me, but it's not beautifully formatted. Andy |

(Nice avatar image livewire!)
Here's a picture of a very early version of AC3D: AC3D 1.47 This shows the seperate windows and the wireframe only views. This is from around 1996 - eight years ago! Andy |

Re: AC3D History?
I was a hard core Amiga user and never heard of AC3D. What was it call back then?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AC3D It sort of reminds me of Imagine 3D... At least a modern day version. |
