Sharp Edged SL Sculpties Getting the Best of Me
Okay, so my deal is this:
I'm trying to create precise sculpties, something like one might see with stairs or window frames. More specifically, I'd like to get some really good knives put together. I think I may have run into a wall on it, though, because my 'precise' shapes are ending up with wrinkles in them... I can't imagine how it's happening, but I'm wondering if it's not something to do with devoting additional 'texture space' to the most visible areas of the knives and letting the wrinkling and such occur to the part I'm just going to sink into the hilt anyway. I started with a subdcube, reduced subdivisions until it was a normal 'box/cube' and then modeled using vertices from there. Knife in AC3D... TCE Shown... Knife in SculptySpace... Knife in SL... Does anyone know how to avoid this kind of distortion? I've seen some really amazing knives made in Second Life and I'd really love to know how they're managing to avoid wrinkles! |
