Seeing applied texture in 3D windows
I am a beginner with AC3D.
So, I make a 3D object, that's good. Select texture, move the box around, that's obvious. Now the question, what combination of boxes do I need to check to see the applied texture in the four window mode. If that only works in the spinning bottom right window, that's ok. I know its successful, because when I to back to Plane-Maker the object is there and it is usually textured correctly. The terminology is a little foreign to this new user Thanks! |

Re: Seeing applied texture in 3D windows
Orth menu (controls the view in the Top, Side, Front and bottom view windows)
Be sure Textures is checked, and that you are NOT in Wireframe mode (if this is checked, no textures will show).

Re: Seeing applied texture in 3D windows
Great, thanks, a little more please.....
The AC3D objects are being painted perfectly in X-Plane. And the top view now shows with its texture in TOP view only. Can all four views show the texture all at once? I have checked the texture box in each window and no joy, just top view shows texture. The object is a flying disk, like a Frisbee. I can imagine it having a top and bottom only, and no sides. But it should show in the 3D view with its lovely texture. |

Re: Seeing applied texture in 3D windows
If Texture is "checked" in the Orth menu, all three Ortho views will display the texture... unless you've also selected Wireframe, in which case none of them will.
These settings are made in the Ortho menu selected at the top of the interface, not the Ortho submenu within each of the 3 Ortho windows. These Ortho submenus are only for setting the Background Image in each of those windows. =========================================== Above is an Ortho window with texture and Wireframe BOTH checked.... but no texture appears, because it cannot while displaying Wireframe. Above is an Ortho window with Texture checked, and Wireframe UNchecked. The texture appears normally. Above is an Ortho window with Texture and Wireframe BOTH UNchecked. You see the surface and no texture. The 3D view has its own menu, where you can also choose to display Texture and/or Wireframe. But these two window types (Ortho and 3D) are independent of each other as far as what is or isn't displayed in them. Also, if the texture shows in X-Plane, then it's evident that a texture IS applied to it.
