are you doing explode? here is a thought, once you explode once, then you can pick a piece of the explosion and explode again to make it bigger

I started off by making a sphere, exploding it at 1.0, and then spiking out all the surfaces at 0.2. It still looks kind of "electronicy", I need something a little more "firey"

It took less than four hours I think. I was switching back and forth between working on this and watching the Pirates lose to Kansas City...
