How do i figure out what version of Mac OS I am running. And can I update this? I have a Mac Book G4 from late 2006. I am trying to download a program that requires I have Mac OS 10.5 or better. I regularly do the updates my Mac tells me to do when they come up but this program wont run on my machine. How do I find out what version I am running and can I install a new version?

Go to the upper left corner of your screen, Apple Menu, choose About This Mac.
That window will tell you the Mac OS X version you are running. If you need to update to Leopard, which is somewhere around two years old now, your best bet is to call Apple and ask where you can get a copy of it, as Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6.x) has been out for over a year and you won't find Leopard in retail channels. |
