Revolve axis clarification
I don't seem to understand the logic behind the direction of revolving an object.
When I look at, say, a front view, to me up is Y and X is width, Z is moving away from me, However if I have a disk shape (As shown in the A3CD manual pg 23) and request a revolve to make a torus, the revolve dialog box needs to set to Y which to my thinking is up, however it revolves correctly with the Y setting, meaning to me it is not revolving upward at all, but away from me (Or possibly toward me, not sure). An explanation would help. Thanks :?: |

This is something you will get used to. If you think of the front view with the x and y axis - the z goes in/out of the screen. If you draw the front of a door and think of the y axis acting as a hinge, although it does point up, the door revolving around this axis would be like a hinged door opening.
There's probably an easier way to explain that. Andy |

Thanks, hinge describes it well and helps me visualize how it moves- it hinges about the Y (or X if chosen) axis.

You just revolve an object - surface around the selected axis and selected times. I thing that re volve is one of the most important action in AC3D.
