Is there a way to save a file subdivided?
Yeah I know I am asking alot of questions, but hey that how you learn.
Alright well I made this character model, took me about a day to complete. I pretty much made the entire model subdivided out of a square. So it only looks good subdivided. Now what I export the file as .3Ds to animate it the subdivision is taken off when I load it into the program I am using. Now what I want to know is, is there a way to export my model so it stays subdivided when I load it in another program? Here is my problem in a video I made to explain to the people waiting for my model to be finished. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9czs47oG0E Might as well turn your volume down my mic was messed up when I was trying to make the video. But anyway the first program it is in is CharacterFX. Since it didn't come out the way I wanted it I stopped with completing the animation. The next program is AC3D and how I want my model to look like I animate it. So to put it simply is there a way to export a file subdivided? |

Because you were asking about polycounts for this same model in a different thread, it may be worth noting that the subdivided model will contain many more polys.
For example, if you have one level of subdivision, a 4-sided poly (composed of 2 triangles) will be multiplied by 4. So, simply put, your 2 poly model becomes an 8 poly model when subdivisions are committed. |
