Gear how to
Inspired by the 3D graphic work within the new book 'Leonardo's machines' by Mario Taddei, Edoardo Zanon, and Domenico Laurenza (Simply amazing)
http://www.tomah.com/delliott/leonardo.gif http://www.tomah.com/delliott/leonardo2.gif I am requesting a tutorial or instruction of how to develop a ttoothed gear within AC3D. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Gear how to
Here's a gear tutorial that may help:
http://supercoldmilk.com/ac3dtut/beginner/gear.html I *just* put this together, and already see where one or more optimizations/improvements may be made, but this will definitely give you the idea. Dennis Last edited by Dennis; 14th June 2006 at 07:33 AM. |

In Surface mode, select all geometry (Ctrl+A) and Shift+Right-click the top surface shown. Delete these surfaces. When I deleted the entire image disappeared on this step, what am I deleting? |

Re: Gear how to
You can create a single tooth in any style you want --- when you setup the initial tooth in step 2 of the tutorial, use the result of step two as a template for making your own tooth, where you can bevel it in the desired direction, etc.
If you create it so that the base of your own tooth is in the same XY location as the bottom corners of the tutorial tooth, you should be able to revolve your own tooth just like in the tutorial. Good luck. Dennis |
