loading .gifs
sorry if this is in the wrong topic...
hello i'm making a game, and right now i have basic models that are just .ac models, and i downloaded the .ac loader and it worked all fine. now that i'm trying to do other stuff, (especially with textures) it's getting a little more complicated. in the .ac loader, does that texture loader ONLY load .rgb files, or anything more? i tried to do it with a transparent .gif, but to no avail. i even tried it with the transparent tree sample, and still nothing worked. so is there more code i should add to texture.c, is there a .dll file i need to download, or is it just impossible to load those in a real game? (my biggest need is getting a transparent .gif loaded) thanks --nathan |

Re: loading .gifs
Are the textures not loading in AC3D or in the game?

Re: loading .gifs
Sorry, can't be of any help. Maybe the people in the X-Plane forums could help.

Re: loading .gifs
Well, you didn't say what loader you are using. Are you doing your game in Java3D, Opengl, Directx, etc...
I know someone developed an ac3d loader for java3d. But from my experiance with importing 3d objects into any 3d library, you need to chech the path of the textures. Especially if you copy the 3d model from one location to another. Most likely, you will need to copy the texture with it. Hope that helps. |

Re: loading .gifs
i'm doing it in openGL. i'm using the same loader thats on the website under resources, but i think it was originally made to load .rgb textures....but i loaded a .bmp with it to.
i'm pretty sure i have the right directory and everything....do you know of any .dll or something you might need to load a .gif? or just some code that would load it? any help at all would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance --nathan |

Re: loading .gifs
I don't know of any opengl loaders for ac3d; however, you might want to take a look at the formats that ac3d can export to. VRML is a standard format and I would think you could google opengl loaders for vrml files or any other format that ac3d is able to export to.
