I'm looking into buying ac3d, but apparently it can't load PNG or JPEG textures, which is a showstopper to me. Is there any workaround?

Okay, maybe I should have given more details. I'm running on linux (ubuntu linux 6.06) and ac3d tells me "Sorry, there is no texture loader for .png installed. A plugin may be available. Check the AC3D home page for plugins or updates".
Is it a matter of what TCL libraries are installed? Which one is needed for PNG? |

A plugin for linux may be helpful to other users as well. but of course you dont really have to use ac3d to load up jpg or png files. I am sure you can use other programs to help you out with ac3d.

This sounds like a linux library might be missing. Check the console and what AC3D outputs when it starts - theres probably a png library type error.

failed to load plugin '/home/stef/Downloads/ac3dlx/plugins/pngload.p' error: libpng.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory It seems that libpng.so.2 belongs to libpng-1.0.12 which seems to be so old that it's not available on ubuntu. If I link libpng.so.2 to libpng-1.2.8 I see the following error: libpng warning: Application was compiled with png.h from libpng-1.0.12 libpng warning: Application is running with png.c from libpng-1.2.8 libpng error: Incompatible libpng version in application and library Do you have any idea what I could do now? |
