I have an .obj file that i would like to use but when i loaded it up in to ac3d it has no skin "surface area" all it has is the vertices is there a way to make a surface for it ?

Press "F6" and read. If the number of surfaces is not equal to zero then ...
in surface mode select all your model (ctrl+a) and flip all these selected surfaces (Surface/Flip Normal).

Now right-click on your OBJ file and select "delete" from the drop-down menu.
Joke aside, I have no idea what you can do at this point with this very strange OBJ file.

Would it be possible to post a copy of the .obj file (assuming this isn't a proprietary file)? This might give some insight as to what the problem may be.

sorry it took so long to get back to you on this. I had to ask them if i could and they say no its for me to use and the obj can not be given to any one. But i did find one i can use and it even looks better.. thanks for trying to help.
