have you tried resetting to defaults, just incase its something in there, or maybe re-imstalling AC3D, i know they're old school tricks but worth a try!

another question, if you open the other files, i.e the one that looks like the facade of a building, delete everything, and create something else, do the surface edges appear in those?

yep, i had "reset to default" all the settings: nothing new.
yep, i reinstalled AC3D: nothing new. If i take the "facade building" file, and delete all the poly inside, when i draw new shapes i can view the edges....arrgghhh... |

Are you sure you haven't got another surface in the same place as an existing surface?
