ac3d or ac3ds?
Okay, I just posted a few days ago but I have another question that I've always wondered. When I unpack the .tgz of AC3D, two files of the same program come out: ac3d and ac3ds. Oddly, textures don't appear when I run ac3d, but they work in ac3ds. Similarly ac3d tends to crash easier than ac3ds.
Why are there two versions, and what's the difference between them?

Re: Linux ac3d or ac3ds?
On Linux, 'ac3ds' is statically compiled with Mesa (the OpenGL library) and will work on most machines (but the graphics will not be accelerated by your graphics card).
If you have problems with the 'ac3d' program then the problem is with your graphics libraries/DRI implementation, not AC3D, and your should seek updates for them. |

Re: ac3d or ac3ds?
Aha, thank you, Andy. That explains why they both worked identically on my old machine yet not on the new one.
