Drawing individual surfaces in 3D
Hi,
I am new to AC3D and am trying to draw individual surfaces in 3D. This works but I am not understanding the reference system of how the point location is placed in the distance. In other modelers it is against the selected grid plan or snap to point. Can someone explain how this is working AC3D? Also is there a way to change which grid axis in 3D? And is there any way to offset the grid or snap it to a face? thanks, rsubr |

Re: Drawing individual surfaces in 3D
In 3D it will snap to the primary plane that is facing most towards the viewer e.g. if you look down on something from the top (like in the Top view) it will snap to the XZ plane. The grid spacing that's set will apply to the new point if Gridsnap is on.

Andy,
Thanks for the response. I can see that now that you have explained how input is taken in 3d. Is there any way to change which grid plane that is displayed in 3D? thanks, rsubr |

Re: Drawing individual surfaces in 3D
The 3D grid will always be XZ through the origin but you can make any other by adding a mesh object and locking it.

Re: Drawing individual surfaces in 3D
Andy,
Thanks for the reply, I can work with that. We are evaluating you product for possible replacement for some of our modeling needs. AC3D has come along way since I previewed it last. We are seeing where we have short falls, I believe so far AC3D will do 90% of what we need. Which is great. Thanks again for your reply. Would be nice to see selected plane editing in the future with a snap plane to face =) Have a great day. thanks, rsubr |
