Screen Shot - UV map
This is what happens to me and I don't understand the way to solve it.
Apparantly you need a complete full (no gaps) UV map for a SL sculptie (for example if you are using a previously build model) I (for ease) used a ready made correcly mapped rounded cube and simply made this chair shape. Uploaded to SL and apart from looking fairly rough (like most sculpties) it was ok ish. I then thought I'd do the "UV MAP THING" and see if it made any different. As you can see, it's not right. Despite me following the instructions on the fish tutorial. I realise I'm stabbing wildly in the dark here, and can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? |

Re: Screen Shot - UV map
You need to ensure the map fills the TCE. Load some of the sample sculptie models and look at the TCE with them selected.
To make the model you show, it best to start with the subdivded cube example and simply move vertices around - this will ensure that texture mapping remains the same. |

Re: Screen Shot - UV map
Thanks for the reply.
Yes I did start with the cube and yes I did load it into world sucessfully, I was just trying to get my head around this for another projects. Must be honest here, as much as I was impressed by AC3D for it's ease of use, I'm near to moving onto something else due to lack of any support/life on the forums. It's always great to find a healthy community with hints/tips being swapped between members all the time, but things seem a shade quiet here. |

Re: Screen Shot - UV map
Tempest, I sent you a PM (private message) offering to clear this up. Respond, let's set up a time to meet online and we'll have you up and running in no time on this issue.
Hint: if you don't have your profile set to alert you to the presence of PMs, you might want to enable it... ============================== Short answer: Looks like you're using spherical mapping for an object that should use planar mapping. This is an object that, if you used planar mapping, would make much more visual sense to you, and within the TCE, it's pretty easy to divide the various planes to create a better map, with highly, and I mean HIGHLY, accurate mapping. The other thing I'd note is, you have no texture there to assign, so you're not really "using" the TCE to begin with. If you're mapping to nothing (yet), what exactly are you accomplishing? There are ways to create a good map guide and this I can also show you. Let's set up a time to meet online....
