About texturing, too
Something escapes me in AC3D's texturing.
The screenshot shows part of my latest model, a French submarine that was the largest in the world back in 1915. The bow markings have been textured, of course, yet their background surfaces appear slightly darker than the rest of the hull. But these surfaces have been cut away as a separate object and colored white (material #1) before texturing. And the texture's green is exactly the same as the rest of the hull's (I have checked and re-checked). How come? As this is a common little annoyance with my AC3D models, can you help? press 't' to switch off textures in the 3D window - are the surfaces a different shade?

Texture colors are often different than material colors.

@ Andy : Yes, they are white (see attachment). Seems normal, as the surfaces' own material without texture is #1.
@Donamy : Certainly, but how do I adjust them to look the same? |

As Andy pointed out, maybe your 2 objects do not have the same shade applied ... ie one could be flat shaded and the other smooth shaded. They could have different crease angles too ... I would also check if your 2 materials have the same specularity (both shininess and color).

Thanks, luuckyy. All this is right, no doubt, but how do I check these properties on a texture material (You'll find me somewhat dumb here, I'm afraid) ? As I say, something has escaped me from the start.

Select all the objects in question and using the boxes bottom left in set surface type, make them the same, flat or smooth and then check results.

Hi Thierry,
what I would do in your case : - check that the RGB values for your green material and your green texture are exactly the same - check that your white material is really white (RGB=255,255,255) - check that both your green and white materials have the same specularity (right-click on them and choose "edit" >> check both the shininess and the color) - why not check the emissive and ambient colors too (just in case) - check that both your objects have the same crease angle (select one object and from the tools menu choose "properties") - select both your objects and push the "flat" button in the bottom left of the AC3D window I can't think to something else for now. I don't have AC3D in front of me right now so I hope the terms and menus I wrote are ok. HTH
